Ongoing Care

Ongoing Menopause Care, St Albans

Are you looking for clinical oversight as you navigate your treatment?

Starting a new HRT regime or contraceptive method is only the beginning of a journey. The 30-minute follow-up consultations are there as part of your care plan to check on your progress. By reviewing your symptoms, bleeding pattern, and any side effects at the three months, adjustments to your oestrogen or progestogen dose can be made if required to get your management plan back on track.

Clinical Review

Your 30-minute follow-up is a detailed review of your progress. I evaluate how well your symptoms have responded to treatment, if you have any side effects and what your bleeding pattern is to determine how effective your management plan is.

Dosage Adjustment

No two women are the same and the initial dose may need refinement. If your symptoms have not fully resolved, this session is used to assess the issue and to adjust your oestrogen or progestogen dosage(s) to get the hormone medication(s) balanced for your body.

Future Stability

Once your symptoms are stabilised, your long-term health is the focus. This stage provides a clear evidence-based roadmap for your continued wellbeing ensuring you have a reliable point of contact

Areas of support

In-depth reviews are offered to support your continued journey and ensure your hormonal balance is maintained. By adjusting medication to optimise your treatment, I ensure your management plan remains tailored to your lifestyle and long-term wellbeing across the ongoing services:

Typically scheduled at three months after your initial appointment, this 30-minute review is essential for monitoring your progress. I need to be updated about your symptom response, bleeding patterns, and any side effect you may be experiencing. If necessary, I will make an adjustment to your oestrogen or progestogen dosages to resolve any issues. Lifestyle optimisation will be discussed further with you. In addition to HRT, improving lifestyle can help with symptoms and have long term general health benefits.

If you have transitioned to a new contraceptive method during the perimenopause, this 30-minute follow-up ensures the change is working effectively for you. I will review how you are managing with the new method, assess your bleeding pattern and address any side effects. This session provides the necessary time for you to ask any questions and for me to ensure your contraception remains suited to your needs.

Following your initial assessment and the implementation of suggested factor adjustments and medication if prescribed, this session allows me to evaluate the progress in your sexual wellbeing. I will review the factors contributing to your reduced libido and determine if further clinical intervention and/or prescribing medication if not done are required. My goal is to ensure that your treatment plan continues to move you toward restored confidence and intimate balance.

For women suffering from increased frequency and/or severity of migraines or has started having them during the menopause transition, this follow-up is essential for tracking the efficacy of your bespoke treatment plan.  I review your progress and adjust the treatment plan if required. The goal is to reduce the impact of migraines on your daily life.

Given the complexity of POI, I offer dedicated first and second follow-up appointments to provide the high level of medical management required for women that are diagnosed with this condition. These sessions focus on explaining the condition’s long-term health implications, reviewing results from further investigations and fine-tuning your hormone replacement to improve ongoing symptoms and protect your future health.

This 30-minute appointment is designed to ensure your IUD or IUS has settled correctly and is meeting your needs whether used for contraception, heavy and/or painful period management or as part of your HRT regime. You will be asked about your comfort level and if there are any worrying symptoms. If there are any concerns, I will assess and provide appropriate advice and reassurance.
