The coil fitting services that I offer, provide a safe, clinical environment for the fitting or removal of the Copper Intrauterine Devices (IUD) and the Hormonal Intrauterine Systems (IUS). I fit the coil gently and with care. A dedicated trained female chaperone is present.

The standard fitting appointment is 45 minutes long, ensuring plenty of time to discuss the coil, fit the coil and for you to rest afterwards if you feel the need to. If you have already had the pre-fitting discussion appointment, the fitting appointment is 30 minutes.
I offer local anaesthetic options as standard practice (included in the fee), not as an afterthought.
If at any point during the fitting you want me to slow down, to pause or to stop, I will immediately do what you ask.
You are welcome to bring a partner, relative or friend into the clinic room with you.
The Intrauterine System (IUS), often referred to by the brand name Mirena, is a highly effective method for contraception and managing heavy and/or painful periods and/or prolonged periods. In the menopause context, it is frequently recommended as a gold-standard progestogen component for HRT. I fit the IUS gently and with care. Once it has been inserted, it provides the necessary uterine lining protection as well as reduce menstrual symptoms. I offer a fitting and removal service for this device.
For those seeking a long-term contraceptive option without a hormone, the Copper IUD is an excellent evidence-based choice. It works immediately upon fitting and can remain in place for several years depending on the type selected. How this hormone free device interacts with your cycle will be discussed. If your current device has reached the end of its lifespan or your reproductive needs have changed, I can remove the old device and replace it with a new one at the same time allowing a seamless exchange. This ensures that there is no lapse in contraception and/or menstrual symptom control and/or progestogen delivery to protect the lining of the uterus. If for whatever reason you do not want your coil anymore, I will remove the fitted device without replacing it.
